Rev. Kevin C. Jones-Wagner Minister & elder
Rev. Kevin Jones-Wagner was born in the foothills of Kentucky, and in his own words, to say that he is "country/cowboy" is quite the understatement. He learned service early, caring for his father who was very sick with COPD until his passing. He came to know Jesus as his savior at a young age, and by the time he was in his teens, he received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as well as his call to Gospel Ministry. After completing his education, he served in the United States Army and after this became a registered nurse. Although he tried for some time to run from his calling,God simply would not let him escape, and after encountering the ministry of Pastor Randy Meadows, an LGBT affirming pastor in Kentucky, he recommitted himself to serving Jesus by serving His people. In 2009-10 Kevin began to get very sick and faced major health challenges with his liver. It was not long after this, in 2014 that Kevin met his now husband, Rick, and they made the difficult decision to leave Kentucky and move to Houston. While his health continued to decline, the call of the Holy Spirit on him became more intense. One day while searching the web he came accross a video of a worship service at Gateway of Hope, and he knew that he had found his home! He convinced Rick to bring him to a service and after encountering the power of God, and the love of the congregation was hooked. Shortly after this Kevin received a liver transplant, and once physically able returned to Gateway to serve. Since that time, Kevin has served GoH as a member of our worship team, in our outreach ministry, as part of our prayer team, and as an Elder on our Board of Directors. He was ordained by GoH in February of 2024 and lives with his husband Rick in Waller, TX a rural community, northwest of Houston.
" I don’t know just yet where God’s ministry for me and the Holy Spirit will lead us, but I do know this that wherever it may be God will meet us there" --Rev. Kevin C. Jones-Wagner
