Knowing Jesus

The entire reason we exist as a church today is because of what Jesus did over 2000 years ago. When Jesus Christ walked the earth, He connected with everyone He encountered. He cared for the hurting. He healed the sick. He loved the unlovely. He forgave the sinner. He rebuked the hypocrites. He was real. And it didn’t end with His death. Instead, His resurrection is where it all began.

Jesus is the Creator of everything. He came to Earth in human flesh in order to reveal His love and His plan to us. He loves us and desires a personal relationship with us. No doubt about it, Jesus is alive! And when He lives inside us, we come alive.

You might ask, “How does this happen?” We become spiritually alive because when Jesus died on the cross, He paid for the sins of the world–past, present, and future. With payment made in full, all that’s left is your response. And the good news,in spite of what you maybe have been told it’s simple, free, and available to all who ask. Jesus Himself said, “I will not turn away any who come to me.” (John 6:37)

The Bible teaches, and we ourselves know that every man, no matter how much he tries is sinful, and that this sin separates us from God. (Romans 3:23). God however in His great love, sent Jesus Christ to Earth to save us by dying in our place and paying our sin penalty. (Romans 5:8.) There is nothing good that we can do to earn God’s grace, it is received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and confessing with our mouth and believing in our heart that Jesus is the Son of God, and that what He did was enough. (Romans 10:9) “But what about people who say I can’t be saved, I’ve done too much!” might well be your response. Again, let’s see what the Bible says, “As the Scriptures say, ‘Everyone who calls our to the Lord for help will be saved.'” (Romans 10:13) Everyone means everyone!

John 3:16 offers us a special promise. It says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, so that whosoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life.” The word “believe” in this verse means to put faith in, to cling to with desperation. The word “whosoever” means just that–WHOSOEVER! My friend that is good news!! If you will place your confidence and faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for you on the cross today, desperately clinging to Him for your salvation, then the Bible promises you eternal life.

Some will say, “Pastor, I need to clean up my life before I can come to Him.” That, my friend, is like saying, “I need to clean up so I can take a shower.” All God is looking for is a contrite heart and a willing spirit. When we come to Him, He begins a new work inside of us and He does the cleaning. So don’t wait to get everything in order before coming to Him. That comes after we place our faith in Him.

You can have an assurance today of your salvation. It comes through a personal relationship with Jesus. If you will call on His name, He has promised to save you. Why not make this YOUR prayer today?

Dear Father,

I now believe that Jesus Christ is Your only Son, that He came to Earth in the flesh and died on the Cross to take away all of my sins and the sins of this world. I believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead proving once and for all that He is Lord and Savior of the world.

Lord Jesus, I now confess to You all of the wrong and sinful things of my life. I ask for Your forgiveness, and I thank You for washing away all of my sins. I recognize You as my personal Lord and Savior, I believe that You rose from the dead, and I’m ready to live for You. Thank You for living inside of me through the presence of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
