Church Structure

Gateway of Hope Church is a recognized and registered non profit corporation organized under the laws of and in good standing with the State of Texas, as well as the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

To govern its affairs, Gateway of Hope has adopted a congregational system of church governance, under the Lordship of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Spiritually the church finds itself under the leadership of a scripturally qualified pastor.  The Pastor is the President of the  legal corporation and chairman of the board.  He or she is elected to an indefinite term until such time as he or she resigns or as a result of no longer being able to serve, is removed from office by the congregation.

The church board consists of the Pastor, as well as the Treasurer, who is charged with oversight over all church assets and finances, the Secretary, who is charged with maintaining all church records and minutes as required by Texas law, along with 2 council members who serve in the role of deacons.  The church board meets once per month, (or more often as required) to govern the day to day business affairs of the church.

The membership of the church elects the pastor, officers, and council members, approves the annual budget, and authorized major church decisions such as purchase of real estate. Membership in the church is available to any individual who is a born again believer, at least 18 years of age, who has been baptized (water baptism by immersion,) and who covenants with the church to attend with consistency as well as support the church with his or her time, talent and treasure.
